Fast-rising new German talent Chris Di Perri is next up on Moon Harbour with his statement- making For You Homie EP.
Di Perri is a resident DJ at Solar Elektro Sound in Köln and has been putting out slick tech since 2015. He landed in 2019 on Kittball Records with his first full EP, and this second one is another step up that showcases his chunky sound.
He opens it with ‘For You Homie,’ a heavyweight roller that teases with distant synth loops and tumbling percussive patterns. Eventually, they all come to the fore and elements of tribal funk shine through to make this a characterful tune perfect for open-air parties. The superb ‘Impress Me’ surely does: the kick are carved from rock, with razor-sharp hi-hats cutting through and stiff stabs combing with grading bass to make for a muscular groove. It is peak time tech for packed-out floors.
This EP is another step up for the ever more essential Chris Di Perri.
