Forlorn Share New Single ‘Hold Me’

UK Pagan Metal outfit ‘Forlorn’ make their return with a defying new offering titled ‘Hold Me’ which is out now via Silent Cult. Forlorn blend folk horror and paganism to carve out their own brand of ‘Midsommar Metal’, while crafting a unique sound and visual identity. Produced by George Lever (Loathe, Sleep Token, Monuments) ‘Hold Me’ was written as a platonic love song, from a child to a parent, and addresses the subject of co-dependency, where a child bears witness to their parents’ struggle with addiction.

Accompanying the new single is a stunning music video that shows symbolism throughout that is symbiotic of family constellation. We see the honouring of ancestors passed through the building of the altar, a sense of community and tribe through the foraging scene and a feeling of strained family dynamics through the harvest feast scene.

I was brought up Pagan, by my mother, and have been a practicing witch all of my life. Of all the sabbats, Samhain is considered the most important to witches, with many intense energies at play. This is where we honour death as a part of the life/death/rebirth cycle. This felt like the most apt symbolism for the narrative of our latest song ‘Hold Me’. Samhain is the death stage of the cycle and is considered the most potent as it is here that the potential for all new life is manifested. This makes Samhain the most important time for reflecting on life, looking at past behaviourisms and growing. In this song I am letting go of my old self, moving into a new space of clarity, strength and acceptance.” – Megan Elliott, vocalist.

‘Hold Me’ follows a string of single’s to be released in 2022 by Forlorn with both previous single’s ‘Redeem, Release’ and ‘Old Wounds’ picking up great support from Kerrang! Radio’s Fresh blood. The latter being the featured track for ‘Artist Of The Week’ on the show. The band have also seen great support from Spotify who placed them on both Metal UK and New Blood editorial playlists.

Forlorn’s relentless live show has seen them become a true prospect of the UK’s heavy live circuit. This has led them to support the likes of Devil Sold His Soul and Urne on tour while also sharing the stage with the likes Ithaca, Conan, Svalbard, Palm Reader and Pupil Slicer.
