Belgian duo Vernon Bara and Massimo DaCosta – otherwise known as Raw District – make their Innervisions debut with latest track ‘From The Inside’. Now available to buy, the track has been released as part of the ninth edition of the label’s ’Secret Weapons’ compilation.
The producer began their Raw District project in 2013 in order to explore a deeper, darker side of dance music whilst drawing inspiration from organic sounds and feature fewer samples. ‘From The Inside’ is the perfect example of this ethos; the atmospheric track is driven by a hefty low-end underpinning whispering vocals and exotic percussion.
Running since 2007, the Secret Weapons compilation is a platform for Innervisions founders Dixon and Âme to release the tracks they have been playing out. For part 9, Raw District will be released alongside a careful selection of credible producers including Marc Houle, Jimi Jules, GoldFFinch and Fabio Giannelli to name a few.
No newcomers to dance music, Vernon and Massimo have previously released on other aliases on labels such as Robsoul, Moon Harbour, OM Records and Defecte, working with a range of talented vocalists including Aquarius Heaven, Forrest and Georgia Angiulli. They’ve released three EPs on Crosstown Rebels in the last two years, having garnered the support of esteemed label boss Damian Lazarus, as well as from the likes of Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos and Jamie Jones. As DJs, Raw District have performed together at established clubs and festivals such as Extrema Outdoor, DGTL, Dour Festival, Fuse Club and their residency at the highly respected Labyrinth Club, Belgium.
