Gabry Ponte and LUM!X reunite to take on 2000s rave classic

Expectations are sky high as a proven dream team reunites in Italian hitmaker Gabry Ponte and LUM!X, fresh off his performance at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. While the two acts are known for their forward-thinking production style, their newest collaboration sees Gabry and LUM!X instead look to the past, reimagining a true classic in the late 90’s rave single “Daddy DJ.” Titled “We Could Be Together,” the new release first captures the raw essence of the iconic original,  then gives it a new lease on life with Gabry and LUM!X’s lauded dance-pop sensibilities. A true sign of things to come, “We Could Be Together,” is out via Spinnin’ Records on June 3rd.

More than 20 years after its original release, it’s safe to say that “Daddy DJ” has never lost its pizzazz. The single became a massive hit in the summer of 2000, spreading across the European charts like wildfire thanks to its instantly recognizable melodies and upbeat rhythms. “Daddy DJ” reached another pinnacle in 2006 when Swedish DJ Basshunter sampled the release in “DotA,” a playful rave tune that not only introduced the song new audiences around the world, but further cemented the original as a genre-defining single of its day.

Now in the hands of Gabry Ponte and LUM!X, “Daddy DJ’ is reborn once more. While they’ve continued to drop hit records on their own accounts, a collab between this dream team always results in something special. Since teaming up in 2019 for the worldwide hit “Monster,” which has now been streamed on Spotify alone over 230 million times, Gabry and LUM!X have continued their hot streak with equally massive tracks in “The Passenger” (with D.T.E.) and last year’s “Thunder” (along with Prezioso).

“We Could Be Together” lays it all out there. The original melody is tight and polished, while the lyrics aren’t only warming, but carry a contagious and sophisticated sense of modern pop. When the chorus drops, the excitement goes through the roof– a sign that Gabry Ponte and LUM!X continue to refine their already renowned collaborative style.

It’s a match made in rave heaven; Gabry Ponte and LUM!X revamping Daddy DJ’s timeless melody into a modern hit. From the radio to the club  “We Could Be Together” is a cross-generational hit that’s ready for the masses. Find the new single out via Spinnin’ Records on June 3rd.
