Galantis, the super-duo made up of Christian ‘Bloodshy’ Karlsson of Miike Snow and Linus Eklow AKA Style of Eye, today releases its self-titled debut EP in the UK, via Atlantic Records.
With nearly 3 million plays on SoundCloud already and having topped the US iTunes Dance Chart just days after the EP’s Stateside release earlier this year, the Galantis movement has taken on a life of its own ever since. With sold out dates at some of the most revered venues in the North America, including the Bowery Ballroom in New York, El Rey in Los Angeles and critically acclaimed performances at both weekends of Coachella to add to the #1 hit EP, the duo’s rise to fame has been almost unprecedented over the last year.
With support raining in from some of the most respected online tastemakers including Noisey, Billboard, Refinery 29, Dancing Astronaut and Stereogum, plus praise from the world’s biggest and best producers such as Avicii, Tiesto and Dillon Francis, the EP has been a breath of fresh air in what can often seem like an over-saturated electronic music market.
The ‘Galantis EP’ kicks off with ‘Smile’, a jubilant vocal-driven track that has already racked up over 500,000 listens on SoundCloud, had support from dance staples such as Diplo, Steve Angello and Pete Tong‹who featured it as his Essential Tune of the week‹and been paired with one of the most controversial X-rated and Noisey-approved videos of the last year. ‘You’ – labeled by Porter Robinson as his favourite electronic track of the last 12 months – follows with a spiraling piano and an instantly memorable vocal hook with the custom ‘Galantis filter’ which blends male and female vocals before the beat explodes to meteoric heights leading up to ‘Revolution’. Fan favorite, ‘Help’ follows and builds a wistful piano melody into an exhilarating anthem of resiliency, whilst ‘Friend (Hard Times)’ couples a stirring soulful vocal with a deep house groove, re-imagined for 2014 and beyond. The pulsating synths and skittering rhythm of ‘The Heart That I’m Hearing’ is the rush at the end of the journey that captures the heart of Galantis.
The Swedish pair also released their first follow-up track to the EP in the form of ‘Runaway (U & I)’ on October 5th, and it has already broken into the Top 10 on the US iTunes Dance Charts as well as hitting the vaunted #1 spot on the Hype Machine.

As Galantis prepare themselves for a mini-tour of the US, with dates confirmed at Life Is Beautiful Festival, HARD Day Of The Dead and the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles plus multiple dates in which they’re set to headline with Booka Shade, rumours are rife that the pair’s next port of call will be Europe.
