NEL - Gaussi Fighter EP

We are delighted to launch our 2018 catalogue with an EPMmusic debut from musical innovator, Cristian Vogel under his new production moniker, NEL.

Cristian’s studio process as NEL is different to his album work and recent sound design compositions. While work under his own name will continue to explore new stylistic and experimental territories, the NEL tracks bear a closer resemblance to his earlier production style. The new pen name will be used for studio sessions created in a hands on, live-to-tape process primarily using Modular synths.

“The sound is characterized by analog rhythms, textures and beats with an improvised flow,” says Cristian.

Fans of science fiction might recognize the name, Gaussi Fighter as a spaceship from 1978’s “Mechanismo” (Harry Harrison / Jim Burns) and the EP is suitably themed, with four tracks of futuristic techno primed for the dancefloor.

Opening with the sweeping and spacey, ‘Shadowgraphs’, the EP then moves on to the rhythmically punchy ‘New Vestige’, before the bespeckled surface of ‘The Insight’ lays ahead of EP closer ‘Orchid’, with it’s gentle tonal stream.
