On July 7, Berlin's live electronic duo, Skinnerbox, gains the support of Ellen Allien in, "Gender (Ellen Allien Remix)," off their upcoming Gender EP on Turbo Recordings. Among the few artists who perform electronic music live, Skinnerbox is recognized for their thrilling on-stage improvisation and groovy techno rhythms.
In their latest release, the duo choose none other than BPitch Controlbosswoman—and for-certain extraterrestrial—Ellen Allien to rework the EPs title track. Equally a Berlin legend, this marks Allien's first released remix since 2014. Injecting "Gender" with her own eerie style, Allien cloaks the initial record with a dark, unearthly ambiance.
Gender (Ellen Allien Remix) – underscores the original's spine-chilling vocals with a rapid, zapping bassline. Additional reverb and chime-like synths are layered onto the track, resulting in a intensely wicked rework.
