George Smeddles Reveals Part One of ‘For The Music’ EP Series on South Records

After an impressive 2023, which saw EPs on Moan Recordings, PIV, Meta, Nature and more, established UK-based House music authority George Smeddles returns to his South Recordswith his first release of 2024, unveiling part one of his ‘For The Music’ EP on 15th March 2024 and marking the first of a two-part series. Spanning three quintessentially ‘Smeddles-esque’ cuts – ‘Something Funky’, ‘Music, Life’ and ‘Doing It’ – George’s latest work is a firm reminder of his unbounding commitment to creating authentic House music that tips its hat to retrospective influences from Chicago, New York and beyond whilst infusing contemporary ideas and avante-garde concepts to craft an inimitable sonic blueprint that has earned him pride of place as one of the genre’s most exciting and legitimate talents.

George Smeddles has swiftly ascended to prominence in the global music scene, crafting a distinct brand of House music rooted in his diverse influences spanning Garage, Motown, Jazz, Soul, and Funk. Since his breakout in 2018 with the hit ‘Shake Your Body,’ Smeddles has maintained an impressive trajectory, marked by chart-topping releases like ‘Start The Party,’ which dominated Beatport in 2019. In 2022, the launch of his ‘South’ record label and collaborations with industry heavyweights like Darius Syrossian solidified his status, with notable achievements including a five-week reign at #1 on Beatport with ‘Back In The Dance’ and an official remix of Indeep’s classic ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life.’

Beyond the studio, Smeddles’ dedication to performance has seen him grace renowned venues such as London’s fabric, Amnesia Ibiza, and festivals like CRSSD and Glastonbury. In 2023, he continued his prolific output with releases on esteemed labels like PIV and Meta while maintaining a busy schedule of international appearances. As he gears up for a two-part release on South Records in March 2024, Smeddles remains a compelling figure in the industry, with an ever-expanding repertoire and a calendar packed with upcoming gigs.
