Opiuo - Ginger Lizard

Showcasing his brand new single ‘Ginger Lizard’, set for release on Friday 2nd February, New Zealand-born, Australia-based producer Opiuo’s latest release precedes his eagerly anticipated Syzygy 01 EP, scheduled for release on 2nd March.
A vibrant horn-led track packed with elements of synth-led funk, ‘Ginger Lizard’ is a groove-packed floor-filler, with Opiuo describing the release as, “Wiggling along the musical ground in a cheeky, funky, party manor. It reminds me of a lizard motion.”

“It’s all about my love for straight up funk,” he continues. “The music from inspirations like Prince, all morphed into Opiuo styles with some real New Orleans horns thrown on top for quality measure. The horns were played byEric "Benny" Bloom of Lettuce, my brother in music Russ Liquid, and TJfrom New Orleans. I used my Prophet 6 synth to create 90% of the synths sounds. It was a new synth to me and I really wanted to see what it was capable of. After making this song it became the favourite in my collection.”

One of the pioneers of the funkadelic bass music and a true genius at putting out some of the loudest-yet-cleanest electronic music productions known to mankind, Opiuo continues to push the envelope and explore the depths of his musical creativity with his Syzygy 01 EP set for release on 2nd March.

“I wanted to release a bunch of material in a different form than a straight up album,” says Opiuo. “The record is about doing whatever I want. No rules or the common restrictions I put on myself, like telling a story when doing an album. It includes some super epic recordings I did in New Orleans when I was there late last year. All the music is super varied… fast and slow, banging and mellow.”

A curator of a funky and futuristic sound, Opiuo’s career so far has seen the bass-star perform alongside the likes of Pretty Lights, Griz and Bassnectar, reaching #1 in the chart positions on Beatport and iTunes.

Ginger Lizard is set for release on 2nd February, solidifying Opiuo’s reputation as one of dance music’s most exciting and fastest rising talents.

Opiuo will join Ganja White Night for select dates during “The Origins Tour”and also recently announced a monumental headlining event on April 21st at the infamous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado with support from SunSquabi, Flamingosis and Anomali.
