GIVE LOVE flips 9 samples into a masterpiece on ‘Worthy’

From Nashville soul to Italian soul-jazz & Swedish hard rock, GIVE LOVE creates something bold, empowering and entirely unique with ‘Worthy’

GIVE LOVE, tipped as one of Rolling Stone UK’s ‘Top 5 Artists For 2025’, shares ‘Worthy’ and ‘Find Love’, two new singles from his debut album, The Broken House Project, a 16-track collage of soul, disco and club psychedelia, out in June.

Hot on the heels of April’s ‘French Touch’ and ‘Another Song’, the majestic ‘Worthy’ sees sampling virtuoso GIVE LOVE – AKA Simon K – slow down to a hip-hop tempo, cleverly building an empowering, soulful sonic moment from nine samples. Even with these separate components at play, the track “just slotted into place,” says GIVE LOVE.

‘Worthy’ centres around a unique drum break, crafted by blending two similar-sounding vintage drum samples, a technique inspired by Four Tet’s 2003 track, ‘Unspoken’. The powerful vocal sample, taken from a 1970s Johnny Adams Nashville soul track, “embodies the concept of GIVE LOVE… uncovering sometimes forgotten records for new inspiration”, he says. Other elements include trumpets from an obscure Italian soul-jazz project and a guitar solo from a Swedish hard rock band, which unexpectedly come together to create a unique sound.

Meanwhile, the accompanying lead track ‘Find Love’ pieces together rare soul from New York-based group The Jaynetts with a shimmering disco-synth groove, as GIVE LOVE layers in a patchwork of melodies and textures, including an acapella recorded in a subway station (sampled, with permission, from James Booth’s 2016 track ‘LOVE’), that blur the lines between nostalgia and invention.

‘Find Love’ and ‘Worthy’ are the latest tracks to be revealed from the upcoming album, The Broken House Project. On this, GIVE LOVE uses sampling not just as a tool but as a way to breathe life into forgotten sounds, piecing together forgotten soul, dusty acapellas, obscure YouTube clips, and field recordings into vast, heartfelt, and singular music.

The latest glimpses of GIVE LOVE’s debut LP, the rousing ‘Worthy’ and ‘Find Love’, land on 15th May via Borrowed Sounds, ahead of the full LP on 20th June.
