Gold Selling artist PS1 returns with ‘Big Energy’ out now on his rightful home on London’s Perfect Havoc. The New York DJ and producer brings this time a hooky, up-tempo tune to thethree years after it signed his first ever track ‘Fake Friends feat. Alex Hosking’, which impressively became a Top 20 hit in the Official UK Charts released in conjunction with Columbia Records.
PS1 aka Peter Conigliaro has been on an upward trajectory ever since. He made quite the arrival with ‘Fake Friends’ in 2020 when it was the only debut artist release in the UK to achieve A-list playlists across the three main national radio networks: Radio 1, KISS and Capital FM. The contagious vocal house single has now surpassed 62 million streams worldwide and was promptly followed by a slew of quality singles and remixes.
Notably, his 2021 follow up on Perfect Havoc / Columbia, ‘Life Goes On’ (also featuring the talents of Alex Hosking as well as hit songwriters Goodboys) reached BPI Silver status, made the Shazam UK Top 5, and crashed over 38M streams worldwide. Testament to his studio skills and rising star status, Sony Music was quick to step in and snaped up PS1’s third original single; the vocal piano-house anthem ‘Party Like’.
It’s been a whirlwind for the young producer ever since working in the studio with a variety of artists such as Mistajam (on ‘Monday Kind Of Tuesday’), Digital Farm Animals, and Cheat Codes. While as remixer, he’s reworked key tracks by global artists including Elton John & Dua Lipa (‘Cold Heart’), Becky Hill (‘Last Time’), UK No.2 single by Nathan Dawe & KSI (‘Lighter’), and Jason Derulo (‘Love Not War [The Tampa Beat]’).
As a DJ, PS1’s history goes much further back. For 11 years he’s been playing upwards of 150 shows a year and currently holds down residencies at Tao, Marquee and Lavo in NYC, and Hakkasan in Las Vegas spinning regularly alongside the David Guetta, Tiesto, Alesso, Afrojack and Steve Aoki. Clubbers in the UK also welcomed PS1 into their hearts for his sell-out debut tour in October 2021. Watch out for PS1 as he arrives back in Europe for a Summer 2023 tour.
Perfect for the late-night club sessions, PS1’s ‘Big Energy’ is a more stripped back affair boasting a minimal house beat yet still very much in the accessible realm. A cool synth line enhances the track along with a hypnotic, harmonized female vocal bringing melody and vibe.
‘Big Energy’ is another solid release for Perfect Havoc. Shortlisted for Best Independent Record Label at the 2022 Music Week Awards, Perfect Havoc’s niche of commercial dance with a smattering of the more club-focused sounds has given rise to six UK Top 20 singles including the No.1 single ‘Head & Heart’ by Joel Corry & MNEK.
Now having generated over 5 billion streams, the London-based Perfect Havoc is one of the most consistently successful indies in recent years. Keep an ear out for more releases in 2023 with cuts from Austin Millz, Parx, Freejak, Simon Field and much more lined up.
