A staple act since the success of ‘Big Fun’ in 1988, Inner City are known for an array of scene-defining records. Now, the legendary Detroit music group put out a new addition to that incredible list. ‘Good Luck’ features Detroit-based singer-songwriter LaRae Starr on vocals and saw its release today on KMS.
A new phase for Inner City, ‘Good Luck’ is a statement of intent to push the legacy onwards. With charming vocals from LaRae Starr woven through production by Dantiez & Kevin Saunderson, plus remixes from Sure Is Pure, Chuck Daniels and DEAS, ‘Good Luck’ shows that Inner City have remained a vital part of the scene’s avant-garde for almost three decades.
‘Good Luck’ is also the first time that Dantiez, son of Inner City founder Kevin Saunderson, enters the fray. Set to inject new energy into the project, he will fuse his specific skill set with that of his father to have Inner City remain a leading act in dance music.
In a career that spans close to thirty years, Inner City topped the U.S. Billboard Dance chart five times and became a steady fixture in the Top 40 of the UK Singles chart with no less than nine records. Among the music group’s best-performing singles are ‘Big Fun’, ‘Good Life’, ‘Ain’t Nobody Better’, ‘Do You Love What You Feel’ and ‘Pennies From Heaven’. Inner City’s 1989 debut album ‘Paradise’ (or ‘Big Fun’ in the U.S.) sold platinum in the UK while peaking at #3 in its main charts.
