Gorgon City’s ‘Voodoo’ gets heavy-hitting Matt Guy remix

UK dance duo Gorgon City return with a new remix of their house banger ‘Voodoo’ courtesy of rising producer Matt Guy, out on 14th April

Gorgon City’s original, which has already reached almost three million streams on Spotify, is an iconic house banger centered around sumptuous vocal melodies over rolling bass. Nottingham-based DJ and producer Matt Guy’s remix streamlines the track’s heavy-hitting groove, adding synth melodies and piano breakdowns to complement its addictive vocal sample.

Fresh off the back of fan favorite singles ‘Sidewindah’ and ‘Remember’, and with one and a half billion catalogue streams to their name, Gorgon City’s latest gem ‘Voodoo’ proves its enduring success with this new reinterpretation.

Having established themselves as one of the most in-demand acts in the industry, UK electronic duo Gorgon City have enjoyed stellar success in recent years thanks to their unique blend of bass-driven house music and addictive vocals. With 10 BRIT-certified singles including 1X Platinum and 2x Gold, and over one and a half billion collective streams in their repertoire, the duo have proven their music is equally fitting for both open air arenas and underground raves. The proof lies in their activity over the past year: sold-out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, LA’s The Shrine, a 16-week Ibiza Amnesia residency, a sold-out Printworks show, and the release of smash single ‘Sidewindah’ featuring celebrated MC Flirta-D, which shot to number 1 on the official Beatport charts as well as picking up over 100 spins on the Radio 1 playlist

Now with a full focus on 2023, the UK dance powerhouses look ahead to an already massive live schedule for the year. With the duo recently announcing a second year of their Amnesia residency in Ibiza, their return to the iconic Red Rocks in Denver, plus festival slots at Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Lollapalooza, 2023 is set to be Gorgon’s biggest year yet for live shows worldwide.

After beginning his career with a residency for Cue in Chesterfield, Nottingham-born DJ and producer Matt Guy quickly built himself a reputation at Egg London, one of the UK’s best clubs. Renowned for the energy and drive that permeate his sets, he has played alongside artists such as Josh Butler, Prok & Fitch, OC & Verde, ANOTR, Michael Bibi, Riva Starr, Max Chapman, Mark Knight, Darius Syrossian, Steve Lawler, Richy Ahmed and more, and graced the line-ups of festivals such as BudaFest, Mint Festival, El-Dorado and Detonate. On the studio front, Matt touched down on labels such as Arcane, Vassnova and Total Records with respectively ‘Party Starter’, ‘Booty Call’ and ‘Krupa’, and racked up support from top performers and radio DJs alike, from Solomun, Fatboy Slim, Camelphat, Solardo, and Eli Brown to Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Sarah Story, Ben Malone and Charlie Hedges.

Matt Guy’s fresh take on ‘Voodoo’ is proof of the staying power of Gorgon City’s sensational original – a potent addition to the duo’s arsenal as they launch into another year of club revelry.
