GROOVELAND SESSIONS VOLUME 3 – MIXED BY DOM NAVARRA
The Grooveland label was established in 2006 as the brainchild of producers eDeep, Edground and Wagner Dalcin. Representing the very best of Brazilian Soulful House music, the label continues go from strength to strength, and is a real favourite with worldwide fans of this unique latin soulful sound.
This collection was mixed by talented DJ, writer and producer Dom Navarra, who hails from Nottingham in the UK. Dom has loved House since the 90’s and has several superb releases to his name, focusing on a blend of Deep and Soulful House with a touch of Garage. He has collaborated with Alex Wheeler as Sueno Soul, and a host of House music heavyweights including Dennis Ferrer, Roger Sanchez, Frank Roger, AtJazz, Arnold, Jarvis, Groove Assassin, Dj Rocco, Kimara Lovelace, Lenny Fontana and many more.
The first track on this release comes from Andre Luchi and Daniel Raizer, and is an instrumental called Deep Inside. Chilled vibes and a deep mesmerising beat make this track reminiscent of a perfect summer day at the beach.
Next we transition smoothly into the Rob Hayes remix of Ars Domini’s Space. Sultry mellow vocals from Mari Aguiar grace this quality composition, giving it a balmy late evening feel, a tune that will have the listener moving from the opening bars.
Third in the mix is Only You from Sueno Soul, featuring honey toned vocals from Nottingham songstress Kat Kyrris. Tom ‘da’ Lips on the saxophone adds sass and sexiness to this gorgeous track about wanting to be with the one person who can take away your blues.
Track number four – You and Me – showcases the talents of Brazilian Soul Crew and accomplished New York vocalist Jessi Colasante (Jesante), with world-renowned DJ Vincent ‘Spinna’ Williams on production, bringing his trademark percussive cosmic vibe to the mix. This is a track about finding ‘the one’ and transports the listener on a stellar journey of musical pleasure from start to finish.
Next comes Unnamed Feelings, a tune from Needless, and mixed by UK’s Groove Assassin (aka Nick Moss). Needless are from Rio de Janeiro comprising of Gabriel Costa and Rodrigo 2U, and the original deep feel of this cut has been sprinkled with Groove Assassin’s latin samba vibes to make this a track that will enchant and move every club crowd.
Sassy number six is You Got What You Give another Brazilian Soul Crew release, with London’s Heidi Vogel on vocals and Tuca e Gusta on remix duties. A hypnotic beat, bongos, and smooth keys give this a jazzy latin feel.
Next up is So Lonely from Dom Navarra, with Nottingham’s Monique Henry providing dreamy angelic vocals. Celebrated New York producer Jihad Muhammad brings a fabulous remix with gorgeous piano provided by Vincent Jeffries. This is a standout track on the album, absolutely mesmerizingly beautiful, and Monique’s emotional vocals really connect with the listener on a deep level.
The vibe changes again with track number eight – Unpredictable Love from South African producer RoneeDeep (aka Matimba Rodney Baloyi) and lyrics from Ammo Moses. Deep and Afro vibes blended with a soulful backdrop grace this heartfelt song about the uncertainty of love.
Track nine Wondering features award winning soul singer Natasha Watts, with Citysounds! (aka Rodrigo Thomaz and Emmanuel Rocha). Accomplished producer Demarkus Lewis brings a captivating remix with Natasha delivering lyrics that tell the story of a lover pondering over what might have been.
Last but not least is Home Made Love from Brazilian Soul Crew and Marie Tweek. Marie’s soft understated vocals and the bouncy rhythm give this a summer feelgood vibe that will have the audience moving to the beat.
This album showcases some of the best of Brazilian House music and is a smooth and sultry blend of quality music that will add a warm glow to any club night. A real treat for dancers and listeners alike, this collection has something for every lover of House.
