As another year of unforgettable shows draws to an end in the capital, London’s XOYO keeps its foot on the gas as it welcomes drum & bass royalty Grooverider to present a one-off ’25 years of The Prototype Years’ show on Friday 29th December. Reliving one of the single most iconic albums in the history of the genre, Grooverider alongside a stable of secret special guests, yet to be announced, are steadying themselves for one of the landmark drum & bass events of the year. For more info and tickets, visit https://www.xoyo.co.uk/clubnights.
Released on his Prototype imprint in 1997, ‘Grooverider Presents: The Prototype Years’ is arguably one of the most significant drum & bass compilations ever, featuring many of the genre’s most respected figureheads, including Ed Rush, Optical, John B, Matrix, Dillinja and Codename John, amongst others.
A quarter of a century later, Grooverider and Prototype have stood the test of time, trailblazing a distinct sonic path and paving the way with releases from Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Furniss, Damage Report, DJ Limited, Stompz and many more.
With December fast approaching, Grooverider prepares to take a leap back in time and celebrate two and a half decades of this revered piece of D&B history. Descending on one of the most-respected venues in London for cutting-edge bass music events, clubbers can expect a night of top-notch club bangers from the era and captivating DJ performances from a specially selected squad of selectors.
Joining the likes of DJ Hazard, Andy C, S.P.Y, Randall, Goldie, and many more, including his longtime musical cohort, Fabio; Grooverider now adds his name to the list of drum & bass sovereignty to host standout events at XOYO, further cementing its place in the mantle of London’s richly diverse clubland culture.
