Hackney Council says it's 'not selling' Gillett Square car park, home to NTS Radio.
The council says it's turned down an offer to sell the site to a developer.
Hackney Council has turned down an offer to sell the Gillett Square car park, home to East London radio station NTS.
"A developer approached us and offered to buy the Gillett Square car park site, but we are not going to sell it," councillor Guy Nicholson, cabinet member for planning, business and investment, told us.
This week NTS said the council was considering making the site, which is home to NTS and other independent businesses, available to property developers. A petition has been launched to designate the space an "asset of community value."
"We would have to relocate if major development happens in Gillett Square," the station's managing director, Sean McAuliffe, told RA. "Which is what would happen if the car park is sold."
Other businesses in the square include the jazz venue Vortex Jazz Club, which has been in Dalston Culture House since 2005.
