Late July will see Chicago’s The Pool House imprint offer up the ‘Cache’ L.P courtesy of Chi-town’s very own Happyghost.
Happyghost is a long running affiliate of The Pool House collective based out of Chicago, initially launched as an events promotion company back in 2012 and later being launched as a record label in late 2014. Since the inception of the imprint the label has unveiled a string of material from close associates and picked up support from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Nemone, Horse Meat Disco, DJ W!ld and Drums Of Death.
Across the ‘Cache’ L.P Happyghost delivers a cross section of brooding, hypnotic material embracing a range of styles from melodic electronica, upfront techno, stripped back house and even trip hop tinged beats. Tracks like ‘Quest’, ‘Cold As Ice’, ‘Total’, ‘Morocco Night’ and ‘All Types Of Ghost’ display a softer, more playful aspect to the Happyghost’s productions while the protruding and penetrative darkness of ‘Bustle’, ‘Leland’, ‘Ghost Rat What’ and ‘Advance’ displays he’s no stranger to a straight dance floor focused aesthetic.
Happyghost further displays his productions skills with a variety of experimental offering across the album too with bass heavy hip hop beats in ‘Dayjavue’, low slung chugginess in ‘Hangman’ alongside Jordan Bernardo, off-kilter glitched out vibes in ‘6 Months’ and a hazy atmospheric vibe found in ‘Eyes In The Woods’ and label co-founder Ricky Bisharat’s take on ‘Cold As Ice’.
Happyghost’s ‘Cache’ L.P is out on The Pool House imprint 27th July 2015.
