HARLEY GIRL is a new project from Gold Coast songwriter/producer Connor Grant (aka Akurei), who is crafting a unique blend of dance music with house and breakbeat influences, resulting in a sound that can be likened to a mix between DJ ADHD, Mura Masa and Nikki Nair.
Launched in 2024, the HARLEY GIRL project quickly made waves with four electrifying club-ready singles – each one conceived in the unconventional studio of Connor’s 2018 Hyundai Kona during breaks at his day job.
That creative approach has fuelled a new wave of releases, and before the Australian summer draws to a close, HARLEY GIRL will be giving us his next four-track EP.
The first taste of this fresh chapter arrives this week with the release of ‘do it like that’ which is set to ignite dance-floors everywhere.
“do it like that is the latest track i’m sharing from my 2018 Hyundai Kona. In all seriousness, my philosophy for this track, and all the stuff I’m working on has been constraint – whether that be time, space or both. Lately, I find the most exciting ideas come in the 15-minute windows on my laptop in my car between work, over the full days off in total solitude.
i started this project about a year ago, before I understood what I liked to play out and mix. ‘do it like that’ feels a lot more ‘me’ – i love tracks that make you wanna bounce and I feel like this one really does. more to come later this year.” ~ HARLEY GIRL
