Australian multi-platinum artist Hayden James has announced his forthcoming third studio album We Could Be Love out September 13 via Future Classic. The announcement arrives with his latest single ‘Deep Diving’ featuring UK songstress SHELLS, out now, and a slate of headline tour dates throughout North America this Fall.
We Could Be Love is a wondrous capsule of James’ recent years spent in the United States performing at festivals like Electric Forest and HARD Summer. The album bridges his roots in Australia’s house music scene with the influences of American underground sounds, melding his past and present inspirations while exploring his craftsmanship as a songwriter and upbeat inclinations as a DJ.
James’ latest single, ‘Deep Diving’, serves as the catalyst for We Could Be Love, seamlessly balancing his pop sensibilities and dance floor motivations. A nod to James’ 2016-released ‘Just A Lover’, the track ripples with thumping bass lines and deep kicks that bubble beneath SHELLS’ hazy vocals. Existing between the worlds of classic house and indie dance, ‘Deep Diving’ beautifully showcases the sonic duality displayed throughout his upcoming full-length.
“So excited to share this new record with you. Feels like ‘Deep Diving’ comes from classic HJ vibes. A big reference for this record was my 2016 release, ‘Just A Lover’. I’ve been a fan of Sarah (SHELLS) for many years, so to work with her for the first single of the album is a dream.” – Hayden James
“’Deep Diving’ is about surrendering to a feeling without resistance, it’s about acceptance and healing. I love working with Hayden, we’ve wanted to release music together for years. I’m really excited to have this song together!” – SHELLS
Along with ‘Deep Diving’, Hayden James will bring his emotive dance sounds to clubland this Fall for his We Could Be Love Tour. Joined by Laurence Guy and Kormak, the We Could Be Love Tour will see James headline a dozen clubs across the U.S. and Canada, including renowned venues like New York’s Brooklyn Steel and Los Angeles’ The Novo. Tickets for Hayden James’ We Could Be Love Tour are available here.
Since breaking out in 2013 with ‘Permission to Love’, Hayden James has gone on to release revered platinum-certified hits ‘Numb’ feat. GRAACE, and ‘Just Friends’. James continued his run with a string of beloved singles in 2023, ‘Do You Want Me’ with Bob Moses, ‘We Could Be Love’ with AR/CO, and ‘Beggin’ You’ with SAYGRACE.
We Could Be Love will mark James’ third album, following his ARIA-nominated 2019 debut Between Us and 2022 LIFTED. Earlier this year, James teamed up with fellow Aussie producer Kormak for ‘Make It’ and American pop-house mainstay Anabel Englund for ‘Different Worlds’ and launched his new Just Friends party series.
