Last weekend saw one of the biggest events in this year’s Ibiza calendar, our launch party for Hed Kandi XS at the palatial Es Paradis. Upon entering the venue, as always, the first thing that strikes you is the decor – white columns, twisting staircases, dancing cages and sparkly everything, the perfect hybrid of studio 54 and the last days of Rome.
It’s only 1am – early by Ibizan standards – but the dance floor is already packed with some of the most glamorous party people on the island. Throughout the night our residents, Phil Faversham, Ben Santiago and DJ Eibhlin fill the room with a high energy mix of everything from classic 90s house to the ultra modern deep tracks that are sure to take over the island this summer.
The action isn’t just limited to the dance floor, though, high above the undulating mass, our breathtakingly beautiful dancers, swing from lit up diamonds and strut their stuff on elevated catwalks. A few of the scantily clad girls start a pillow fight, which comes to an explosive conclusion when the pillows burst and confetti rains down on the dance floor.
By 3am our very own Lovely Laura takes to the stage to wow the revellers with her saxophone renditions of club classics. Teaming up with DJ Eibhlin, the two whip the crowd into a frenzy with their brassy take on Duke Dumont’s “I Got U”.
After a few more surprises excessive surprises the night fades into a blur of dancing, deep house and disco.
