La Fleur - Hedione EP
Next up on Watergate Records is long time club resident and label regular, La Fleur. The Power Plant boss is currently celebrating five years of the label with a VA compilation and here impresses once more with three new compelling club cuts, complete with a remix from Camea.
Swedish born and Berlin based, La Fleur is a DJ, producer, label owner and fashion designer who has turned plenty of heads since her debut in 2011. Releasing her music on such labels as MadHouse, Exploited and Moodmusic, and having remixed the likes of Kerri Chandler, La Fleur plays Europe’s most innovative clubs and festivals including Movement Festival, Melt and Into The Valley. Here she proves she has a versatile sound that is guaranteed to leave its mark on the floor.
The title track 'Hedione' kicks things off with a low slung bass line, luminous shimmers and a ghostly vocal culminating in a super slick late night ride while 'Bloomer' takes a more energetic approach with a classic acid line and spooky vocals laid over a hypnotic groove of crisp analog percussion.
Rounding the EP off is 'Longevity' and it's the headiest of all three embracing nostalgic melodies that induce the cerebral moments you lose yourself and time ceases to exist. Clink boss and minimal mistress Camea also steps up to remix 'Longevity' and nails it with a masterfully done revision keeping all the beauty and engagement of the original but taking it into her own trademark space designing with a heavier palette of drums resulting in a heated trek into the sublime.
This is a fine release that has both retro style but fresh future appeal and is another great success for La Fleur.
