Through the Roof is the lively new single from Hermitude; a contrast of light and dark and a dancefloor tune with a monstrous personality. The festivities begin like a rewired Mariachi section sounding the horns before descending into a powerful synth riff set to swinging drums. Hermitude’s deft rearranging and cut-ups of Young Tapz’ vocal fragments move and sway until they come together at the chorus in a celebratory show of defiance.
It’s their first song since 2014’s Ukiyo; an opulent downtempo gem that clocked up 4 million views without any video or radio servicing. The duo were previously best known for HyperParadise, which included a smash Flume remix that charted at #1 on Hype Machine.
In March Hermitude embark on their first headline tour in North America, after supporting fellow Australians Rufus (Du Sol) in October 2014. Dates include Buku Festival in New Orleans and SXSW in Austin, TX.
“Hermitude cross boundaries seamlessly by drawing on both electronic and hip hop…they’re one of the most inventive acts to come out in years.” Blushing Panda
Hermitude are winners of the Australian Music Prize, AIR Award for Best Electronic Release, plus ARIA Award nominees for Best Dance Release & Best Video.
Through The Roof will include remixes from Sable, Hwls and Nina Las Vegas.
Hermitude’s new album drops early May 2015.
