Hï Ibiza announces Glitterbox season lineup

Glitterbox has revealed the full programme for its 20-date season at Hï Ibiza. Running every Sunday from May 26th – October 6th 2019, the club culture phenomenon returns after a triumphant 2018 series, bringing Armand Van Helden, Honey Dijon, Dimitri From Paris, DJ Harvey, Purple Disco Machine, Horse Meat Disco, Basement Jaxx, Nightmares On Wax, Joey Negro, Groove Armada and many more. Joining forces with Ibiza’s most sensational party destination once again, Glitterbox will feature yet more jaw-dropping production along with the drag queens, club kids, performers and dancers that embody this year’s ‘Express Yourself’ slogan.

Soundtracking Sunday nights on the island with the usual authoritative mix of party-starting nu disco, vocal house and classic anthems, the line-up includes many legendary Glitterbox headliners, from the chart-topping dancefloor-fillers of Armand Van Helden to the pioneering talents of Masters At Work and the fresh contemporary sounds of Purple Disco Machine. Glitterbox’s most impressive selection of live performances will include Barbara Tucker, CeCe Peniston, new label addition Fiorious, Julie McKnight, Kathy Sledge and Teni Tinks, set to bring unforgettable vocal anthems to life in Hï Ibiza’s spectacular ‘Theatre’. This summer will also see debuts from Dan Shake, Junior Jack, Smokin Jo, Yuksek, Mighty Mouse and Nadia Ksaiba to name only a few, presenting a ‘who’s who’ of world-class modern disco maestros.

Fast becoming a worldwide nightlife movement, dance music’s most talked-about party is consistently reaching new shores and new heights – in 2018, over 150,000 people around the world danced to Glitterbox’s unique blend of house and disco. Building on those achievements, the label and the parties continue to gather pace, reaching likeminded music lovers via year-round international tours. Uniting clubbers from all walks of life to share in the Glitterbox experience, this year’s slogan is a call to action embracing everyone who walks through Hï Ibiza’s doors on Sundays this summer. Introducing ‘Express Yourself’, Glitterbox’s founder Simon Dunmore says,

“When people go to Glitterbox, they become their own disco alter ego. They release their inner diva. This counts for all people of Glitterbox – DJ’s, drag queens, performers and the people on the dancefloor. We absolutely want to encourage that, so the ‘Express Yourself’ slogan for our summer at Hï Ibiza this year is about embracing people’s self-expression when they come to our party.” SIMON DUNMORE

In order to illustrate the themes for this year, Glitterbox worked with the incredible London-based photographer Haris Nukem to create the stunning visual campaign for the summer. Four of Glitterbox’s performers feature – Raven Mandella, Kalypso Bang, Terri-Lee Blake and Lucy Fizz – who will all be bringing their unstoppable energy to the dancefloor at Hï Ibiza throughout the season.

Hï Ibiza is the ideal setting to experience everything that Glitterbox has to offer, its main room or ‘Theatre’ is a sensational contemporary ballroom for Glitterbox’s disco drama and the ‘Club’ room a welcoming backdrop for losing inhibitions and letting loose. Not forgetting the ‘Wild Corner’ unisex toilets with its fully-equipped DJ booth, a unique and unexpected clubbing destination with a full programme of world-class DJs throughout the summer, a must-see spot for clubbers on the island.

ABOUT HARIS NUKEM – ‘EXPRESS YOURSELF’ PHOTOGRAPHER
Haris Nukem’s work is a passionate study of the human spirit in the 21st century. Using vividly imaginative scenes, the London based photographer portrays fictional allegories set in the modern world. Building visual narratives around human nature and experience, they unveil a beauty in qualities from discipline to excess, to enlightenment and even indoctrination.

On creating the Glitterbox ‘Express Yourself’ campaign: “Creatively, my objective was to hold up a mirror to the beautiful, inclusive, charismatic energy that I feel from Glitterbox and reflect that in these scenarios championing four of their most iconic performers. Working closely with my talented team and the amazing Defected Records squad I think we really hit our mark.”

Forced to reframe our ideas of 'righteousness', Nukem’s works conjure a deeper thinking. Elaborately constructed, the pieces boast rich symbolism and an immersive quality. The result is a provocative body of work — characterised by its opulence in colour, and bright, incandescent hues. Fusing lavish aesthetics with a socially conscious, urban art sensibility, his work embodies contemporary-classical imagery.

Super Early Bird tickets for Glitterbox Ibiza have already flown in record time but there are still a limited amount of earlybird tickets available, priced at 30€. To book your place at Glitterbox Ibiza visithiibiza.com.
