History – Trade: The Final

Laurence Malice, Lee Freeman (DTPM) & Steven Sharp present a very special event “HISTORY – TRADE: THE FINAL” to celebrate 25 years of the ground breaking legendary club TRADE, which undisputedly changed the rules of clubbing!

Going out with an all mighty bang, London’s original after hours weekender club Trade, intends to throw one of the one of the biggest events of the year to mark its swan song. From its legendary residency at Turnmills in Farringdon into the noughties to headlining sets to 500,000 people at Radio 1’s Love Parade festival and annual tents at London’s Gay Pride and Summer Rites & Tobacco Dock festivals, Trade has continually inspired and set the standard for cutting edge late night partying for an international polysexual crowd.

Stoked to be sharing their birthday celebrations with a much respected club brand that has always held a fond and close association with Trade, the legendary DTPM captivated the London Sunday club scene for over decades. From the secret success of Villa Stefano as a unique Sunday lunchtime followed by the unforgettable Bar Rumba years to many infamous nights and late mornings at The End and their incredible Sunday night residency at Fabric. Lee Freeman and his team dared to be different and break the rules of Sunday daytime and nightlife clubbing like no one before them!

DTPM will host their own room within the vast and incredible Egg Ldn venue with an uber selection of their star DJs alongside International guests; Trade legends; familiar regulars and some very big surprises along the way!

Trade continues to champion a seismic spread of house and techno DJs and their music with founder Laurence Malice saying “No gay club in this country has managed to equal this. Our music policy will forever be our most pivotal contribution to the club scene”.

Having helped launch the careers of Ibiza’s Space Terrace superstar, Smokin Jo; hard house legend Tony De Vit who took hard house to the mainstream; former Radio 1 DJ Fergie now resident in Las Vegas; the Sharp Boys who launched the Trade Lite Lounge and Trade also gave Tall Paul his first DJ slot as well as enjoying guest spots from Faithless’ Sister Bliss. Trade’s clubbers have always included many up and coming producers and have championed anthems such as ‘Insomnia’ by Faithless, ‘Passion’ by Gat Decor, Felix ‘Don’t You Want Me’ (Hooj Choons), ‘Age Of Love’ Jam & Spoon Remix – Age of Love (React), NRG ‘He Never Lost His Hardcore’ David Morales Remix of ‘Dreamlover’ by Mariah Carey and Andronicus ‘Make You Whole’. With such a musical cutting edge it was inevitable that Trade as one of the UK’s first major brands went on to launch its own compilations series topping Albums Sales charts in the UK and beyond.

Before the internet and social media & aided by the success of the CD series, Trade notched up an international reputation by word-of-mouth. With such demand Trade’s heavy party schedule of international events saw them touch down in some of the best clubs in the world, including hosting huge parties with Pushca in Ibiza alongside its residencies in LA & New York.

Due to its global success Channel 4 television commissioned an hour-long documentary Trade: The All-night Bender which was broadcast on 9 August 1998 as part of the Queer Street series of programmes.[8] It featured in the BBC2 programme “Gaytime TV” and also had a regular weekly radio show on Atlantic252.

A testament to its credibility and status in the clubbing firmament, DJs are still ‘gagging’ to play at Trade including many legends like David Morales and  the promoters were inundated by DJs requesting to play at Trade 25: The Final. Amusingly there’s also a raft of DJs who accredit themselves to Trade but who’ve never even played there!

A fave with the fashion, media, art and music crowd, Trade has fans such as Bjork, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Boy George, Kylie Morillo, Rupert Everett and Erick Morillo, and is rumoured to have turned Madonna away at the door. Part of a scene in the huge TV show ‘Sex In The City’, Trade has won plaudits far and wide for its many Firsts.

What can one say about History – Trade: The Final event suffice to say, it’s going to be one helluva party with Early Bird and  Second Release tickets already sold out! Music wise, expect a captivating mixture of International guests, Trade legends, Trade residents and familiar regulars and some very BIG surprises across 5 rooms including Trade Classics, Trade Modern, Trade Lite, Trade Disco and the legendary DTPM Room, all playing their unique cutting edge sounds inside one of London’s top 3 premier venues!

As you have come to expect from Trade over the past 25 years, production on the night will be immense and it’s sure to be one of Autumn’s Musts, with its hedonistic party crowd and newcomers that want to come and join in the daytime/night time History – Trade: The Final on Sunday October 25th from 2pm onwards at Egg London. Book Monday October 26th off work now!

Trade & DTPM present “HISTORY – TRADE: THE FINAL” where we made history/this is your history/our history…and as we make HISTORY!  It is going to be without doubt one of the year’s unforgettable clubbing events!
