Digitalism - Holograms

German producers and DJs Jens Moelle and Ismail Tufekci, AKA Digitalism, have unveiled their hotly anticipated production ‘Holograms’ taken from their latest EP, ‘Zdar C1u6’ – the name in reference to their club hit ‘Zdarlight’.

Showcasing their rich electronica sounds across the release, the Hamburg duo lace the production with an atmospheric vocal and swells of synth-based chords, diving deep into the core Digitalism sound they’ve become so famed for. Taken from the second EP (‘Zdar C1u6’) in their mini series, the single follows the success of ‘Jet’ which recently hit over 1 million Spotify streams, and their 2017 ‘5KY11GHT’ EP, which featured the melodic masterpiece ‘Highspeed Sunrise’ and dreamy synth-laden ‘Spektrum2000’.

With Jence back on vocals for the track, he said “We’re not only exploring how thin the line between reality and the virtual realm has become, but also musically entering a territory that feels new but very comfortable for us at the same time. It’s like a slingshot into something super exciting.”

Starting their career in 2001, producing vibrant live sets, the Digitalism boys soon signed to Kitsune, with their release ‘Zdarlight’ still acting as one of their most famed to this day. Following up the release with ‘Jupiter Room’ from their ‘Idealism’ album, Digitalism soon became synonymous with their unique and original electronic productions, a crossover sound with roots found in both indie and techno.

The album, now celebrating a decade since release, became an instant classic in the indie electro scene, establishing Digitalism as one of the biggest acts in the genre, alongside notable acts such as Simian Mobile Disco, Justice, and Boys Noize.

Their 2011 track ‘Blitz’, taken from the ‘I Love You, Dude’ album has so far amassed over 7 million Spotify streams whilst 2016 album ‘Mirage’ birthed popular track ‘Destination Breakdown’, which later went on to receive remix treatments from the likes of Gerd Janson and Alex Gopher.

Having showcased their first EP from their own label, Magnetism, with a special live stream of each track across social media, ‘Holograms’ embodies the crisp and cleverly crafted sounds that make Jens and Ismail so unique, and demonstrates their continued innovation and ever-evolving sound over the course of the past decade.
