Holy Basil ‘The Outside’ – out now!

In a spectacular comeback that has music enthusiasts buzzing, Holy Basil has unveiled her latest single, “The Outside,” a mesmerizing blend of electronica, ethereal soundscapes, and the dramatic flair of musical theatre. Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Björk, Kate Bush, Grimes, and David Bowie, Holy Basil continues to craft music that not only resonates but lingers with a distinctive, unforgettable impact.

“The Outside” is more than just a song; it’s a profound exploration of emotions intricately woven from Holy Basil’s personal experiences and reflections. Emerging from a period of mental health struggles, Holy Basil has turned to music as a form of therapy, channeling her emotions into this evocative track. The song’s lyrics articulate a deep yearning for the simplicity of childhood, offering a poignant escape from the chaos of the external world.

In discussing the release, Holy Basil reveals, “‘The Outside’ is an ode to the parts of us that often feel misplaced, helpless, and alone in such an intense world. I wanted to recreate the feeling and anticipation of what it’s like to be inside the womb, about to birth and start a whole new crazy life that nobody can prepare you for. I have this memory of being born, it’s all dark and warm and cozy and suddenly there are all these crazy bright lights and loud strange noises, and it feels so intense that I just want to go back to the warm dark safe place. (My birth into the world was induced and I was two weeks late, so I feel that gives some credibility to how much I didn’t want to come out lol). Often when I’m sad I get this really heavy feeling of not wanting to be here so I wanted to put this song out there to bring comfort to people who’ve felt the same. There’s nothing like listening to a song about something relatable and feeling seen and heard. Writing this song was so therapeutic for me to be able to express these emotions and I hope it brings comfort to people when they’re feeling alone, fragile, sad or even a little nostalgic.”

From the moment “The Outside” begins, Holy Basil grabs listeners with her raw storytelling and masterful production. The track is a testament to her innate musical talents and emotional depth, establishing her as an artist who demands attention. As she weaves her personal narrative into the fabric of her music, Holy Basil invites her audience to share in her journey, making “The Outside” a must-listen for anyone seeking solace and connection through sound.
