House Gospel Choir kick off new decade with life-affirming single ‘Blind Faith’

House Gospel Choir mark their first release of 2020 with new single ‘Blind Faith’, produced by BBC Radio 1 tastemaker and platinum-selling producer Toddla T, out 24th April.

Centring around positivity, spirituality and overcoming obstacles, ‘Blind Faith’ is a deep, soulful house cut underpinned by the choir’s soaring vocals.

“Writing and producing for HGC was a natural vibes,” Toddla T explains. “A truly gifted set of people bringing upfulness in these wild times. 2-step to this one.”

Natalie Maddix, House Gospel Choir’s founder and creative director explains: “Our quest to create a future classic seemed to naturally bring us together. Toddla’s incredible sound made the writing process a dream”.

Reflecting on the message behind the music and ‘Blind Faith’, she adds: “If life is a song then we’ve got no choice but to catch the rhythm & keep on dancing. Even when the path is unclear and we can’t figure out what our next move should be, we have to have faith that better days are coming and just keep stepping. “Walk by Faith & not by sight”, 2 Corinthians 5:7.”

Bringing together a group of outstanding singers, full house band and DJ, House Gospel Choir creates an effortless live fusion of the biggest house and gospel tunes that never fail to raise the roof. They burst onto the scene with ‘Salvation’, a debut single that was crowned BBC Radio 1 ‘Hottest Record’ by Annie Mac, peaking at #1 in the Music Week Cool Cuts Chart and #5 in the Billboard Dance Club Chart.

With new material in the pipeline, the collective have been bubbling away in studios across London, working with a roll call of iconic dance music producers, from global house legends Todd Terry, DJ Spen and Grammy-winning Alex Metric to Toddla T and UK gospel icon Nicky Brown.

Their monthly public Mass Choir open rehearsal, at Rich Mix in East London, has recently featured guest appearances from house and techno icon The Black Madonna and electro-pop singer Georgia. They have also gained popularity from their weekly brunch at The Curtain hotel in Shoreditch which has been running for three years now.

Looking ahead, expect a full project of inspired reworks of your favourite club classics and more original tunes from House Gospel Choir later this year, as well as an exciting schedule of live shows to come.

A stunning slice of hands-in-the-air house music, ‘Blind Faith’ is the kind of musical escapism we need during these turbulent times.
