Terms like ‘anthem’, ‘iconic’ and ‘legendary’ get thrown around a lot in dance music with very few tracks genuinely living up to the hype. But when it comes to 808 State’s 1989 classic ‘Pacific State’ you can be sure that there is an entire generation whose memories of those laid back beats, acid vibes and *that* sax sample are synonymous with the halcyon days of Manchester’s Hacienda.
26 years later and clubbing tastes have evolved. Representing a snapshot of a generation, the original has undoubtedly stood the test of time, but it’s House Of Virus, Peter Brown and Jonathan Ulysses who have stepped up and given it a fresh lease of life for Zulu Records and the dance floors of 2015.
Taking the track deeper than the original but still oozing with acid vibes and, of course, the iconic sax sample, this Zulu dream team have taken this challenge in their stride and created a track that will be taking pride of place in sets across the White Isle this season. Already gaining support from the likes of Bob Sinclar, Sonny Wharton, Thomas Gold, Dashka, Judge Jules, Stonebridge and Federico Scavo, expect memories of ‘the good old days’ to come flooding back when you hear that saxophone on a dance floor this summer.
Catering for all needs, Zulu have included huge club and dub mixes in the package ensuring that all bases are covered for this unmissable House Of Virus, Peter Brown & Jonathan Ulysses anthem.
