With Marco Carola, Solardo, Detlef and Max Chapman all championing the inimitable groove that George Smeddles delivers with this new three track release, his debut on Under No Illusion with the ‘How I Feel EP’ is turning heads across the scene for all the right reasons.
Few producers manage to nail a sound which is unquestionably theirs, but with his precision percussion and knack for finding the catchiest samples, George Smeddles’ productions are hitting the mark time after time. Opening the EP is ‘How I Feel’ which is no exception – built around a soulful vocal that compliments the stripped-back feel and layered drums, this is one that is guaranteed to get the party started.
With ‘Shake your Body’ we’re fast-forwarding a few hours into the night when the groove is in full flow – championed by Marco Carola at his legendary Music On parties, this one is tried, tested and delivers every single time. You’ll know the vocal, you’ll feel the bass and the groove will carry any party and any crowd. Proof that Smeddles has a keen ear for a catchy hook, ‘Shake Your Body’ is one that you will be hearing over and over this summer.
Finally, the EP closes with ‘Funky Track’ which does exactly hat it says on the tin. Once again infusing a tribal vibe with a one of George’s infamous rolling basslines, this one is a more subdued affair which takes its cues from the early hours when all you need is groove and a rhythm to stick to. It’s impossible to listen to Smeddles’ productions and pick up on all the intricacies first time, and it’s this quality which he brings to every release and has seen him supported by the industry elite.
“The support and feedback on this EP has been beyond anything I could have expected. I’ve worked hard on refining my sound over the last 18 months and I really feel like this EP is up there as some of the most polished music I have ever made. It’s been doing the business in my sets and seeing people like Marco Carola, Solardo and Detlef all supporting is incredible to see.” – George Smeddles
With a summer of shows that sees him playing everywhere from Ibiza to London, for Abode, Junction 13 Festival, Fabric and more, the ‘How I feel’ EP perfectly sets the scene for what could be George’s biggest summer yet.
