UK duo Howson’s Groove make their return to the Chasing Unicorns imprint on March 16th with ‘Don’t Stay’ EP featuring a remix from ex-AZ&TOR and MadTech artist, Kalyde.
South East London producers Howson’s Groove have notched up remixes and releases on Southern Fried, Love & Other and Bear Fresh in the past few years and have seen support from the likes of Slam, Laurent Garnier, Mixmag and Thump. ‘Don’t Stay’ is the act’s third release for London label Chasing Unicorns and continues a strong run of modern, emotive house output.
Title-track ‘Don’t Stay’ oozes dreamy dancefloor soul – it’s subtly mixed male vocals and lazily attacked strings providing counterpoint to skipping drums fusing with powerful yet gently detuned bass tones. The epic, orchestral fluidity of ‘Time’ follows the opener with real class and ‘The Night’ takes these tropes one step further, combining rousing synths with organic sounds atop a robust broken beat.
Kalyde, aka Richard Main, furthers his Annie Mac and Monki approved rep with a raw, warehouse interpretation of ‘Don’t Stay’ to round the package off in unabashed, peak time fashion.
