Son Of 8 - I Found You

UK based duo Son of 8 are ready to unveil their latest project and newest sounds in the form of a one-two punch to give their 2017 a massive kick-start. Introducing 8 House Records, an independent label revolving around all things house, with Son of 8 keeping the heart beating at the helm. First in the limelight is “I Found You,” a hard-hitting hands-in-the-air groove full of old-school vibes and a killer vocal hook.

Son of 8 start the new year on the back of a big 2016. Their collaboration with Phats & Small “With Every Heartbeat” reached one below the top spot on Beatport, and has over 3.5 million Spotify plays to date. As well as releasing with Spinnin’, they’ve also put records out with Armada Deep and Zulu Records, which led to big stage appearances at festivals such as We Are FSTVL, and a summer-long residency at Judge Jules’ Judgement Fridays at Eden, Ibiza. Speaking about the new label, Son of 8 said:

“It seemed like a natural progression from the work we do in the studio. We produce a lot of music and it is good to get it out there. The conventional system of submitting demos and waiting for feedback can be a long process with tracks coming out a long time after production. With your own label you can control your sound and release schedules better. But most importantly we work with so many young, up and coming artists, who we want to give a place for them to showcase their music. We will still continue to work with other labels because it is important that labels support each other in the industry.”

Flirting between classic Ibiza-worthy house and innovative bass sounds, the Liverpool duo have pulled out all the stops to landmark their label’s debut release. The stabbing organ bursts the melody into life, and with the backing of a smooth, rumbling bass hook and a tight drum groove, this one is certified to get any dancefloor pumping. Delving in and out of garage beats whilst maintaining a persistent and addictive house rhythms, Son of 8’s “I Found You” drifts in and out of genres, whilst the vocal hook has enough energy and soul to hold everything down the groove with ease. When it came to producing ‘I Found You,’ Son of 8 said:

“With this track, we were trying to make a really uplifting, high energy house track that would make the crowd smile and put their hands in the air at our gigs. We started with a vocal sample from “I Found You” by Axwell because the lyrics are beautiful and make everyone smile. We wanted to put our own twist on the track so we had a great female artist put her stint on the vocals, giving them a different twist, then we built the track from there.”

With the freedom of being able to release music on a regular basis, you can expect to hear a lot more from Son of 8 very soon.
