i_o remixes Above & Beyond’s classic “Alchemy”

‘Alchemy’, one of Above & Beyond’s best-loved collaborations with Zoë Johnston takes a surprisingly dark turn in the hand of self-professed ‘techno malware’ maestro, i_o.  Following an impressive series of club-tooled cuts on Mau5trap, the LA-based producer is a bombastic new voice in a new wave of US producers inspired by labels like Pryda, Drumcode and Cocoon. An unabashed fan of Above & Beyond, the remix marks  i_o’s formal induction to the Anjunabeats family.

First heard on Above & Beyond’s 2011 album, ‘Group Therapy’, ‘Alchemy’ is stripped out and remodelled: propulsive drums push us forward relentlessly, clinically, twisting Zoë Johnston’s sonorous ode to lost love arms into something much darker.
