| Iceland Airwaves, the country’s longest running music festival, returns todowntown Reykjavík Wednesday, November 6 through Saturday, November 9. As it celebrates its 21st consecutive year, Iceland Airwaves continues to bring together the world’s most forward thinking acts with the best Icelandic talent, and for presenting an unparalleled platform for collaborative local creatives to showcase their new projects. Attracting over 6,000 visitors from 60 countries each year, Airwaves is the not-to-miss event in the Reykjavík calendar. Today, Iceland Airwaves unveils its third wave of performersfollowing the recent addition of Of Monsters and Men. Newly announced international acts include an intimate underplay by John Grant in the atmospheric church Frikirkjan, Cautious Clay – named one of Rolling Stone’s “30 Best Artists We Saw at SXSW,” queer, boundary-pushing country troubadour Orville Peck, Irish 2018 Choice Music Prize nominees Just Mustard, and a dose of UK post-punk from East London’s Snapped Anklesand Manchester’s WH Lung. Additionally, they’re joined by a plethora of Icelandic acts, including much-loved Airwaves favourites Agent Fresco, Biggi Veira (of local dance music figureheads GusGus), pop-experimentalists Bagdad Brothers, and Blóðmör, the hard rocking winners of this year’s Músíktilraunir, Reykjavík’s annual ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition.
