Illustrative producer Felower and Parisian label head and producer Kasztan have teamed up to create their new double A-side single ‘Silhouettes / Contour’, which released on the 10th of February via Stemina Recordings. The record marks the label’s second collaborative release after HAELIUM and Kasztan’s 2022 single ‘DOR’. Boasting a range of press support, Kasztan has received support from publications CLASH Magazine, thissongissick, Stereofox, Magnetic Magazine, Electronic Groove, 6AM Group, MusicTech, and Decoded Magazine. It is important to note that Felower has produced prominent French acts November Ultra and Terrenoire. The collaboration was mastered by Pieter de Wagter who has worked with the likes of Tiësto, Stromae, and Soulwax and brings TEED, Bicep, and Floating Points to mind.
Based in Paris, France Felower is a young songwriter, producer and director. Over the years, he has developed a sound identity in the wake of artists such as Caribou, Porter Robinson, and Joji. Combining Solar Pop with powerful electronic sounds, he creates intriguing worlds that mix music and production. Each one illuminates a different facet of this universe by exploring new places or showing the genesis of a new character. Also, Felower is often collaborating on soundtracks with director Quentin Deronzier, who directed the latest music videos for The Weeknd, Doja Cat and Orelsan.
Pierre-Marie, also known as Kasztan, was born and raised in Nice, France where he and his brother launched their first post-rock band A Red Season Shade. Having released two successful albums, the pair caught the attention of fellow French musician Anthony Gonzalez from M83 who subsequently asked Pierre to play guitar and keyboard as part of the live band for the Saturdays = Youth tour. Pierre-Marie signed his debut album, under the STAL alias, with Arista/Sony Music. He has also written bespoke music for commercials, signed a soundtrack for The Illusionists documentary, and won an award for his contribution to an animated short film. Pierre-Marie lists Moderat, Mogwai, and Rival Consoles as his major influences.
Parisian collaborators Felower and Kasztan’s new double A-side ‘Silhouettes / Contour’ illustrates versatility that can be achieved using the same palette of raw sounds. While Felower’s interpretation, ‘Silhouettes’, possesses an atmospheric quality with an uplifting emotional undertone, Kasztan’s version, ‘Contour’ is a proverbial freight train of in-the-pocket rhythms and lucid synth lines soaked in mutating bass. Side by side, the two tracks raise the temperature.
