A super paired-back track that’s been boiled down to its bare essentials, ‘In Her Eyes’ is Ilija Rudman’s first outing with Classic and it takes eclectic disco to a whole new level. Best described as a deconstructed disco strut through minimalist heaven, Andre Espeut’s crisp vocals take turns with synths and punchy horn on the melody, punctuated by a bottom-heavy bassline that brings it bang up-to-date.
Charles Webster’s No Lies Mix does away with the disco associations in favour of an expansive, pacey house feel. The pleasing spaciousness of the original track remains, with more atmospheric sonic activity. It’s very much a ‘close your eyes and lose track of yourself for ten minutes’ kind of remix.
