Ark has been a mainstay in the French house scene for some time, influencing artists as diverse as dOP, Nose and even labels such as Circus Company. So it’s no surprise that his signing to Bloop’s label represents a significant for the Portuguese imprint. On the In Luv EP, Ark reminds us of his strengths in emphatic fashion courtesy of three stunning originals that come backed up with a remix from prolific Lisbon production pairing and Bloop label owners, Kaesar & Cruz.
Opening the EP is the sounds of the title track. A sultry deep house jams, it’s characterised its dusty, deep chords and a jazzy undertone of the type that’s very French indeed and echoes similarly minded producers a la St.Germain. A real delight of a track that’s sure to prompt dancefloor smiles aplenty, it marks an auspicious start on a release that’s littered with high points throughout.
“Arkmageddon” ups the ante even further courtesy of a driving dancefloor track that’s notable for its unrelenting energy and muscular prowess. Dropped at the right moment, this one is sure to make for a devastating tool when used correctly. A big track that demands a big room, that’s for sure.
On the flip side we have the last of Ark’s three originals, “Perles A Rebours”. An unusual track with shades of vintage Perlon works, it ’s a heaving, heavy number that further demonstrates the many sounds that make up the producer’s diverse talents. Culminating matters is Kaesar & Cruz, who perk up with a remix that’s dark, dextrous and best suited to peak time affairs. A quality release from start to finish, Ark’s debut on Bloop is a feast for the ears.
