Indie Pop trio VELVET MOON releases ‘A Love Song’

Indie Pop band VELVET MOON unveiled their new single, ‘A Love Song’, on October 11th, 2024 via Argle Bargle Studios. The track, which premiered on Metal Magazine follows the release of their captivating singles ‘Hymn’ and ‘Daylight’ off their forthcoming album slated for release in 2025. Boasting 15 million streams across platforms, the group’s first three albums earned them global recognition, reaching the top of Spotify’s Viral list in Indonesia. VELVET MOON’s music has also become a favourite among vloggers and has been featured in TV commercials for brands like Kappahl and Bollinger in Sweden, as well as gracing stages such as that of The Great Escape festival 2024. Their timeless sound has attracted a fanbase that is both diverse and multi-generational.

The Stockholm trio have built up a catalogue of deeply intimate and evocative songs. Sandra  Bjurman, the band’s lyricist and vocalist, draws directly from her everyday experiences while reflecting on broader societal and global issues. The musical landscapes crafted by producers Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner perfectly complement Sandra’s storytelling, allowing listeners to journey through a spectrum of rich colours and powerful feelings. ‘A Love Song’ was written by all three band members and produced by Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner. The mix engineer for the release was Johan Kronlund, known for his work with artists such as Allan Walker, Veronica Maggio and Hovet. The mastering engineer was Björn Engelmann (ABBA, Titiyo, Allan Walker). Influenced by War on Drugs, Joni Mitchell and Rycooder, the band’s current sound is reminiscent of the sultry Synth Pop of Fleetwood Mac (in the 80s), Chappell Roan, The Eurythmics and Cannons.

‘A Love Song’ beautifully captures the simultaneous danceability and melancholy of 80s dance music. Huge cymbals, gated reverb, boxy kicks, lush synths and electrifying guitar whisk the listener to a nostalgic place, while Sandra’s rich, bright vocals soar passionately over the fray – think ‘Hungry Eyes’, but infused with a refreshingly modern feminine touch.
