Indie Rock Trio Feral Family Return With ‘So Far Behind’

Indie trio Feral Family return with their sophomore EP So Far Behind, released on February 6th. Spanning six tracks, the EP blends riff-driven intensity with moments of emotional depth, revealing a sound that feels sharper, more confident, and deeply authentic. Fans of Fontaines D.C., Foals, and IDLES will find plenty to connect with here.

Inspired by the worlds of Frank Herbert and Sergio Leone, Feral Family’s sound is built on widescreen dynamics. Previously acclaimed by Apricot Magazine as “one of the most compelling new acts in UK alternative music,” the band were recently named Top Five finalists in a competition to support Only The Poets at their sold-out Brixton Academy show, selected from thousands of acts. This followed a runner-up win for Best Indie Band at Radio Wigwam’s annual awards and inclusion on KEXP’s playlist.

Produced by Liam Radburn, So Far Behind is driven by dynamic drum patterns and heavy guitar riffs. Opener The Balance immediately sets the tone with its urgency and power, while closing track Down In The Dirt delivers a final, hard-hitting punch. Endless Night pairs soaring vocals with thunderous guitars, and Taste Of Life highlights lead singer Jamie Lowe’s impressive vocal range.

Speaking about the EP, Jamie describes it as “more like a condensed album — six huge songs that we’re buzzing to deliver. There are some big, raw riffs in there, but the EP also peels back deeper layers of our sound.” He also gives credit to the band’s new drummer Regan Grimson, whose arrival “brings even more heat to these tracks.”

Following a brief hiatus after their 2023 debut album Without Motion, So Far Behind marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Feral Family. The band will celebrate the release with an EP launch show in London on February 6th, followed by dates across the North of England, including support slots for The Nightswimmers in Leeds and Avid Fan in Manchester.
