insignificant Others are dropping their ‘All I Wanna Be / Need U Want U’ EP on OCD Records this June.
Comprised of Nick McCall and Dave Robinson, the duo met 15 years ago before working together from 2002 as a DJ/production outfit. Each brings an individual flair to the studio – Nick possesses the musical knowledge plus an unhealthy obsession with vintage synths, whereas Dave has the ears and engineering know-how to bring it all together. Their debut single ‘It’s Me’ garnered substantial praise, even featuring on Groove Armada’s ‘Doin’ It After Dark’ mix compilation, whilst their follow up single ‘Use My X’ was championed by the likes of Pete Tong and Basement Jaxx.
‘All I Wanna Be’ kick starts proceedings with a heady hook and high-pitched vocals before ushering in an exultant injection of breakbeat. The vibe starts off moodier in ‘Need U Want U’ courtesy of its fuzzy lead until a looped vox and charismatic synths flow in and out to provide an element of elation.
