Max Durante, the first generation pioneer of Roman techno is back on Adam X’s Sonic Groove imprint with the Insurrection Of Inequity EP.
Operating since the early 90s, Durante is a longstanding pillar of the Italian techno scene. Recent outings have seen him take his blend of techno, industrial, electro and acid to Sonic Groove and fledgling Berlin imprint Kynant. Insurrection Of Inequity is four tracks of rough and tough techno with strong rave and industrial roots, designed to shred speakers and dancefloors.
Human Rage draws first blood with distorted kicks, dimmed vocals and heavy analogue textures. Tension On Rigaer Strasse brings to mind recent clashes between the police and tenants of one of the last few buildings in Berlin to remain under the control of squatters from the far-left scene, the turbulence permeating through the barrage of kicks and sirens.
RIOT R94 takes a faster, hammering peak-time route and the EP closes on The Resistance, a spacious DJ tool where reverberating drones surveil proceedings.
