James Vine announces the first new music under his Itona alias since 2021: the dreamily atmospheric, meditative lofi house cut Bones.
Itona an alias of James Vine, aka ENiGMA Dubz – a creative departure from his signature bass-heavy sound. Translated from ‘ito’ (love) ‘na’ (summer) in Japanese, the Itona project was created while he was at home during the UK’s lockdown in the middle of 2020.
In response to the challenges many were facing, James set about creating inspired, ethereal electronic music to help himself and others escape the mundane.
Like an icicle piercing through a misty sky, new track Bones’ cold, eerie atmosphere and stunning electronic soundscapes are complemented by its deep, subtle and pulsating beat. The track gradually builds and unwinds with its quietly effective propulsive percussion giving the arrangement purpose, while still staying true to its organic and lofi vibe with its deep infectious bass motif.
One that would do the business in a chillout downtempo house set, to relax with at home or in the headphones while working. Sublime.
Bones follows on from the remix of ENiGMA Dubz’ Dawn Chorus on a similar tip, but is the first original music from Itona since the release of 2021’s Sleepy EP, which featured live guitar work from Rich Dicas.
From lofi and downtempo electronica, to chill house and chillwave – Itona’s music takes you on a dream-like journey as you float in a bubble of bliss.
