Australian artist/producer Jamie Lane kicked-off the new year with a very cool electro-house treat called ‘EZ’ which received much praise & attention from music curators and fans across the globe, and lucky for us he’s already coming back to us this week with his next single, ‘Sweet/Bitter’.
Jamie Lane creates this unique blend of alt-pop/alt-R&B electronica that can be likened to a mix between TOKiMONSTA, Medasin and SBTRKT, and his new single ‘Sweet/Bitter’ is a fine example of that statement.
He’s created this lush electronic soundscape full of warm beats, atmospheric percussion and vibrant falsetto vocal sounds, and while this creates quite an uplifting experience, the inspiration behind ‘Sweet/Bitter’ is full of emotion and turmoil…
“This one is pretty personal, it’s basically about being involved and in love with someone to the point where it blinds you from the underlying incompatibilities and clashing of values. A blinding as chronic as the will to suppress those feelings. You want it to work out, or maybe you don’t want to be alone. You become so attached and tangled up in someone else’s world, you forget your own world, including the instinct that maybe that person isn’t right for you, and you’re doing yourself a disservice by refusing to be honest about it. This song is about the turbulent emotional state that preceded the eventual decision to end it.” – Jamie Lane
‘Sweet/Bitter’ is available everywhere now via Source Music, and we can expect to hear more from Jamie Lane very soon as he makes the final touches to his upcoming debut album.
