Janne Schra - Janne Schra – Carry On

One of The Netherlands most popular singer / songwriters, Janne Schra, releases her new single ‘Carry On’ around the world on 7th August. The track, released on Berlin’s Embassy One label, is the latest from her new album, Ponzo and perfectly showcases Janne Schra’s cool and quirky, eclectic pop style.

Respected Dutch electronic wizard, Mason, has taken this stylish, summery tune and reformatted it for the dancefloor as only he knows how – don’t be surprised if this remix takes on a life of its own! It will be released first on Beatport on 20th July. Also included are big remixes from Chopstick & JohnJon, JustOne and Feiertag.

‘Carry On’ is an instantly likeable groove, driven by a muted, disco-flavoured guitar riff and laid-back 4/4 beat. Schra’s silky vocal is expertly delivered with a knowing drawl, and the singalong chorus is immediately stuck on repeat in your head. Mason’s remix perfectly captures the far out charm of the original, bringing the unorthodox guitar riffs to the fore, on top of bouncing beats and a funked up bassline. This remix has got an uplifting quality to it which could well see it make the jump to radio, as well as finding its way into DJ setlists everywhere this summer.

Alongside a useful instrumental version, Chopstick & JohnJon also step up to deliver a stylish vocal mix that showcases their unique brand of deeper house and techno for the cooler dancefloors. New Portuguese / Dutch producer, JustOne shows why he’s getting support from the likes of Afrojack and Nicky Romero, as he toughens it up with a euphoric mix, full of big drops and dancefloor moments. Up and coming talent, Feiertag takes it the other way, with a down-tempo, bass-heavy mix, that also shows off his considerable skills as a drummer / percussionist.

Janne Schra rose to prominence as the lead singer of the jazz / blues outfit Room Eleven, enjoying two hit albums in The Netherlands, including one platinum seller, and going on to tour the world, until they went their separate ways in 2010. As a solo artist, Janne has enjoyed yet more success with two further top 10 albums. ‘Carry On’ is a chance for the rest of the world to catch up and enjoy the musical delights of this hugely talented and individual artist.

The wonderfully tongue-in-cheek video for ‘Carry On’ sees Schra invoke the image of Jane Fonda as she sets about taking an aerobics class for OAPS, urging them to ‘carry on’, whilst also seeming to require the same motivational message herself. The quirky video is a perfect reflection of the song and Schra pokes fun at herself, showing a down-to-earth charm that also shines through her music.

‘Carry On’ has all the hallmarks of a big summer tune and with the massive Mason remix ready to land directly on dancefloors everywhere, should mark the start of even bigger things for Janne Schra.
