Mid June will see the 2Swords imprint offer up Jay Robinson x Geisha Twins ‘Totem’ EP, backed with a remix from label-founder Copy Paste Soul.
The 2Swords imprint had quite the year in 2014 with label head Copy Paste Soul dropping critically acclaimed original material and remixes from heavy hitting names such as Laurent Garnier, No Artificial Colours and Man With No Shadow, as well as the first release of 2015 bringing hotly tipped artist Dubspeeka in on remix duties. Here the label welcomes some fresh blood to the imprint, namely Welsh artist Jay Robinson who’s most notably known for his material on the likes of Fool’s Gold, Dim Mak and Party Like Us, plus remix work for Etienne De Crecy, Zedd, Herve and Kissy Sell Out.
Jay Robinson x Geisha Twins ‘Used’ opens things up and sees the pairing deliver a gritty house music workout instilled a dark edge via growling bass licks and dubby synth hits, while the airy pad hooks and hip-house vocal hooks further drive the infectious groove. Following is ‘Totem’ which sees Jay take the reins solo, this time delivering a warm house cut with tinges of disco thrown into the mix, utilizing wandering arpeggio’s, bright stab sequences and ethereal pad sweeps, while a rugged bass line ups the energy levels across its near five minute duration.
Label head Copy Paste Soul then rounds things off with his take on ‘Totem’, delivering a typically groove laden reshape by taking the original’s melodic foundations and layering them up with his own bumpy drum style, resulting in a subtly unfolding six-minute number.
Jay Robinson x Geisha Twins ‘Totem’ EP is out on 2Swords 15th June 2015.
