Jay Zoney – Vast
EDR005 is a trip to deep space, so buckle up and get ready. Vancouver’s Jay Zoney brings a deeper flavour of techno with his throbbing, creepy Original -” Vast”. The trip begins quite easily with a massive kick drum, and some chugging bass. As the journey begins to unfold, the track meanders around searching for a seemingly elusive, yet specific target. Soon to follow is a persistent, spooky, and screeching ambience, reminiscent of a ghost ship hurtling through space at the speed of light. Keeping things dark and mysterious, Vast propels forward to a wall-shaking breakdown, equipped with a hammering bass-line, wide-panned shakers, and undeniable intensity. The tracks completes it’s journey meandering once again, into the distance. New York based South African, Brendon Moeller takes the reigns ne xt, with a remix from an alternate universe. He brings things down a notch with a his inter-galactic dubby approach. Full of percussion-based surprises, and fitting one-off samples, this mix creates a very nice groove that is sure to please even the “headiest” of crowds. Brendon’s remix is very wide resulting in an impressive stereo field, that is an audio delight to the listeners ears. Closing out the release is Bryan Zentz, hailing from Portland USA, finishing things off in style. Bryan brings the goods here with his driving and melodic remix. His mix heats up right away with the rolling bass line, some uber-tekky bleeps and blips, and prominent shakers. As the track develops Bryan introduces his gorgeously haunting melody that takes no time to grab the listeners full attention and commit to this deep space journey.
