Following the launch of their self-titled imprint krankbrother Records and debut self-release ‘Unreserved’, DJ/producer duo krankbrother are to welcome Jody Barr for the label’s follow-up EP, ‘Room 108’ on May 18th.
Providing a glimpse of the fledgling producers discerning taste for dark, droning techno, ‘Room 108’ is a natural progression from Barr’s ‘Curious Incident’ and predecessor ‘Coloured Silk’ and with support already coming from BBC Radio 1 representatives B Traits and George Fitzgerald, reinforces the brothers’ overriding label focus – to provide a platform for new, emerging artists.
With ‘Room 108’ also marking Barr’s debut EP release, its title track opener is a tough after-hours rhythm – whilst ‘Think About It’ opts for an ethereal, synth-rich approach that ensures the EP’s distinctly industrial feel still remains. Closing track ‘Arizona Dream’ sees Barr build on this rawness before overlaying affair with some sublime piano key work to round-off a thoroughly absorbing debut record.
