House music veteran Joeski is back on Crosstown Rebels with In Dub We Trust. The heavy-duty two track release showcases the deeper and dubbier side to the producers capabilities, yet withholds the signature Joeski style.
First up Lessons Learned gets to work with chugging beats, lusty horns and reggae style vocals. A power-house of a track, varied keys stabs are intermittently placed throughout to deliver a hypnotic effect with powerful builds and drops designed for that peak-time dancefloor. Next up Faded takes on a heavy, distorted bass with broken, skippy beats and infectious vocals. Joeski explains, “Reggae dub has been one of my favorite genres for a long time. I get a lot of my inspiration and ideas from reggae dub that I implement into my productions. I love the delay effects and psychedelic elements that are commonly used in dub tracks.”
In the continually evolving dance music world where trends come and go, Joeski has stayed at the pinnacle of the industry, keeping true to the original values he learnt playing in front of crowds at Limelight, Tunnel, Paladium, Nasa and at his first residency, the “Together” parties at the legendary Roxy in New York. Since 2001 his Maya Recordings has gone from strength to strength and releases have been heard on dancefloors from New York to Ibiza and beyond. Alongside the label, Joeski has also produced for well-respected taste-making imprints such as Crosstown Rebels, Defected, Desolat and Poker Flat.
