Stuttgart local Johannes Brecht has been a regular on Poker Flat Recordings for a few years, and has also released tracks on labels such as Hamburg’s Diynamic Music. Here, he returns to Steve Bug’s iconic label with EAR – two tracks of slick, powerful Minimal / Deep Tech.
State of Consciousness is a sleek and slippery affair – locking into a nagging, hypnotic groove early on before Brecht lays on the vibes with some wonky piano and synths.
Endangered Audio Research, from where the release gets its acronym, is a beautifully constructed slice of electronic dance music, with cascading keys and a bubbling, modular motif.
The slightly overdriven synths give Brecht’s tracks a raw, gritty feel that really hits home.
