As summer rages on in the capital, so does XOYO’s ‘Summer Saturdays’ series, delivering an eclectic fusion of House, Disco, Jungle and Drum & Bass. The next in a line of immersive events to take over the intimate layout of Shoreditch’s most popular basement on Saturday, August 24th is Joshua James, an artist who has played a regular part in the venue’s programming over the last decade under the Pleasurehood banner, who now ushers in the dawn of his new club brand ‘Pump’. For tickets and more information, visit www.xoyo.co.uk.
London-based DJ and producer Joshua James has been a vibrant force in the city’s queer scene for over 15 years. Renowned for his eclectic and diverse musical selections, Joshua started his journey as a club kid in East London’s underground, sharpening his skills at nu-rave nights in Shoreditch. He now holds residencies at some of the city’s most iconic venues, including XOYO. He plays a pivotal part in several club brands, including Feel It, False Idols and his newfound Pump parties, where he champions both emerging queer talent and acclaimed DJs. Joshua’s innovative sound has led to collaborations with respected labels like Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Records. His dynamic energy and commitment to pushing musical boundaries have earned him a cherished place in London’s diverse club culture.
Joshua James joins a duo of individual talents for the launch of ‘Pump’ at XOYO. The first is Berlin-based, multi-genre artist and club Renate resident Amy Dabbs, known for her dynamic sets and productions ranging from soulful house to jungle, with releases on labels like Aus Music and Shall Not Fade and a monthly show on Rinse FM. Completing the lineup, Van Damn, from Arbroath, is a prominent Scottish DJ and promoter, and the face of the well-known club brand, ‘All Good’. He’s played at major festivals like FLY and Otherlands, gained Radio 1 play, and emerged as a standout act in Scotland’s nightlife scene.
After trailblazing promoters LWE launched XOYO’s ‘Summer Saturdays’ series in August with a set from Chicago house legend Jamie 3:26, followed by Ceri’s exquisite deep house and garage, and the iconic Metalheadz: Blue Note Sessions, Joshua James’ ‘Pump’ on August 24th marks the first of two electrifying 4/4-focused club nights to close out the series. Next, Charlie Boon’s ‘Departures’ club brand also makes its XOYO debut in collaboration with COGO on August 31st, offering a hot blend of traditional house and cutting-edge electronic production.
With Joshua James Presents ‘Pump,’ XOYO and LWE continue to enrich their reputation as two of the capital’s most influential pioneers of cutting-edge club culture. They provide captivating events and unforgettable dancefloor experiences for the masses in one of the world’s most diverse nightlife scenes.
