Up and coming trailblazer Kahnti steps into album mode with ‘One Love’, a concise but fully realised extension of her Afro, deep, and soulful house vocabulary. Philadelphia-born and Dallas-based, the producer/DJ/vocalist has built her reputation across the U.S., U.K., and Cuba, playing SoulCamp with DJ Spen, Mi Casa Holiday, Havana’s International Jazz Festival, and London’s BBE, while shaping a cool sound rooted in layered percussion, hypnotic grooves and topped with her captivating spoken words and ethereal vocal tones.
The album opens with the title track, a warm, afrocentric foundation that frames the record’s theme of connection. “Free’Dom” and “Spiritual Boogie” dial into her rhythmic, spiritually charged side, while “UBA” and “Mirage” add depth through deper, late-night textures. “My Boo Thang,” reinforced by a collaborative remix with DJ Spen, brings a polished soulful edge, and “Just Dance (And Do It)” pulls the album into classic deep-house territory. “Energy,” along with Geoffrey C’s punchy remix, closes the project with a club-forward lift.
“’One Love’ is about the healing power of rhythm – energy and sound that lifts the spirit and touches the soul. It’s music that connects us to one another.” – Kahnti
This album is a treat for the dancers with Kahnti hitting all the right vibes with her tactile drums, vocal layers, and fluid movement between introspection and dance-floor momentum, as she firmly stakes her place in the evolving Afro-deep landscape.
